Concept
During the process of interpersonal interaction, the first step is to comprehend and interpret the other party’s action, and then respond to the action. The process of interpersonal interaction includes interpretation, analysis and response. Through recognizing and interpreting other people’s gestures and signals, people are then able to know each other, predicting each other’s responses and adjusting themselves to each other. In this era of electronic equipments such as Internet, cellular phones and other media, indirect communication has gradually replaced direct face-to-face communication. Therefore, in New Media Arts, the viewers interact with art works, or rather, communicate with the artist behind the works through their interpretation of the changing sounds, images, forms and movements the electronic signals are producing in his works. This interactive process is the most important part of New Media Art.
